Clinical Supervision
What we provide?
We offer supervision to counsellors and other helping professionals in a supportive and safe environment; to help support the work they are doing with clients; it is centred around a collaborative approach to keep the practitioner and the client safe. We aim to build a collaborative relationship with our supervisees to ensure that they feel part of the process and are empowered to work ethically and appropriately with clients.
Drawing on years of knowledge as practitioners our supervisors can work with different theoretical orientations and experience levels; we can support counsellors working with areas that include trauma, neuro-divergence, mental health issues and couples work. We also support professionals working in in other areas, such as mentoring, bereavement services and other charity sector roles. We also specialise in supervising trainee counsellors.
What is supervision?
‘A working alliance between a supervisor and a counsellor in which the counsellor can offer an account or recording of her work; reflect on it; receive feedback; and, where appropriate, guidance. The object of this alliance is to enable the counsellor to gain in ethical competence, confidence, compassion and creativity so as to give of her best possible service to her client.’ (Inskipp and Proctor, 2001, p5)
